Country: Switzerland

Denomination: 5 Francs

Mint: Brussels (B.)

Weight: 25 g

Mintage: 196,650

Km # 11

Comments: Obverse features Helvetia, the female personification of Switzerland holding shield.  Reverse features date within wreath.  Picked this up on ebay recently for about $130.  This coin has been on my want list for years and I was glad to pick this one up in an affordable grade.

1881 Switzerland Fribourg Shooting Thaler

Year: 1881

Country: Switzerland

Denomination: 5 Francs

Weight: 25 g

Mintage: 30,000

Certification: NGC XF40

Km # S15

Comments: I only have a couple of these shooting thalers but they are just beautiful,  According to Krause that are not technically coins but I think they fit into my collection just fine.  I probably overpaid for this one a bit but I am happy to add it to mu collection.  Has a nice original look to it.

1923 Switzerland 5 Francs

Year: 1923

Mint: Bern

Country: Switzerland

Denomination: 5 Francs

Weight: 25 g

Mintage: 11,300,000

Certification: PCGS AU58

Km # 37

Comments: The figure on the obverse if often erroneously thought to be William Tell, but it actually a depiction of a common mountain shepherd, designed by Paul Burkard. I found a paper (in German) on the design of the coin on the Swiss Mint website here.

1879 Basel Swiss Shooting Thaler

Year: 1879

Country: Switzerland

Denomination: 5 Francs

Weight: 25 g

Mintage: 30,000

Certification: NGC AU55

Comments: According to Krause Swiss Shooting Thalers are commemorative medallic issues rather than coins but I just love the designs on these coins. Would like to pick up a couple more but they don't come up for sale often in affordable grades.
