Year: 1944
Denomination: 5 (Cinco) Sucres
Mint: Mexico
Weight: 25 grams
Silver Composition: .7200
Mintage: 2,000,000
Certification: NGC MS63
KM # 79
Comments: Obverse features head of Antonio José de Sucre. Reverse features ship in flag draped arms. This type was minted in 1943 and 1944. A similar type was minted in the late 1800s as a 1 Sucre. I have been looking for one of these for a while. Not a real expensive coin but they don't come up certified very often. Catalog value in BU is $22.20, I paid slightly more for this example.

Nice 5 sucres of '44. I have one or 2 of the earlier Ecuadorian sucres as well as the 58 5 francs in unc. However I think even a common 1890 Lima sucre is perhaps $300 (in unc) in today's market.
