Comments: Obverse features Christa McAuliffe, a teacher and astronaut who was killed on the space shuttle Challenger.  Reverse features three children and the caption "I touch the future, I Teach".  I haven't purchased any US commemorative coins from the US mint in almost 7 year but I picked this one up for a couple reasons.   First, I remember distinctly being in 8th grade and watching the space shuttle launch with the local teacher, Christa McAuliffe, and then my horror and confusion as it exploded.  Second, now 35 years later, I am a teacher myself, so it is nice to see my profession featured on a coin.

Comments: This is the first curved coin from the United States Mint.  The obverse features a baseball glove.  The reverse features a baseball.  In general I hate novelty coins, especially some of the colorized crap that some of the world mints are releasing these days.  I am not really even a huge baseball fan but there is something about the design of this coin and the subject that I really like.

Comments: The obverse of the this coin is emblematic of the Battle of Baltimore at Fort McHenry and features Liberty holding the 15 Star, 15 Stripe Star Spangled Banner Flag.  The coin's reverse features a waving modern American Flag.  Every once and a while the US Mint releases a modern commemorative dollar with a nice design.  Even though I don't really collect US coins anymore I picked this one up for the design and it does (sort of) fit into my crown collection.

Comments: Commemorates the Centennial of the Statue of Liberty.  Obverse features the Statue of Liberty on Ellis Island.  Reverse features Liberty's Torch and an excerpt from Emma Lazarus' famous poem "The New Colossus".  Not in my normal collecting area but I like to pick up a US Commemorative once in a while.

Comments: The obverse of the this coin features Meriwether Lewis and William Clark on a stream bank planning another day of travel and exploration. Lewis is seen holding his journal. The coin's reverse features two feathers from the National Council of the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial logo - representing the many Native American cultures touched by the Corps of Discovery Expedition. It also features a peace medal presented to the Native American Nations during the expedition on behalf of President Jefferson. 17 stars represent the number of states on the union in 1804.

Comments: The obverse of the this coin features an image of Franklin's based on an original bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon. The coin's reverse is taken from a 1776 Continental Currency Dollar featuring designs originally created by Franklin. I really love the reverse of this coin, I will never afford a real Continental Currency dollar so I guess I will have to settle for this coin.

Comments: Per the US Mint website: The obverse of the this coin, designed by AIP Master Designer Joel Iskowitz and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Don Everhart, depicts a mature eagle soaring majestically through the sky. The coin's reverse, sculpted by United States Mint Medallic Sculptor Jim Licaretz, is based on a replica of the first Great Seal of the United States used between 1782 and 1841.

Comments: In my opinion nothing too interesting about the obverse of this coin. It features the San Francisco Mint building which survived the 1906 earthquake and fires. The reverse is kind of what interested me in the coin. It is the same reverse of the old Morgan dollars. I was interested to see what the design would look like in perfect condition.

Comments: I still keep up with new releases in US coins and if I like the designs for a particular year I usually try to pick up the coin. I kind of like when they bring back some of the classic designs like the buffalo nickel. These have really appreciated in value as well. Last check they were selling around $200 raw.
